About Cisco

CISCO SYSTEMS INC. IS THE WORLDWIDE LEADER in networking for the Internet. The company was founded in 1984 by two computer scientists from Stanford University seeking an easier way to connect different types of computer systems.

Cisco Systems shipped its first product in 1986 and is now a multi-national corporation, with over 35,000 employees in more than 115 countries. Today, Cisco solutions are the networking foundations for service providers, small to medium business and enterprise customers which includes corporations, government agencies, utilities and educational institutions.

Cisco's networking solutions connect people, computing devices and computer networks, allowing people to access or transfer information without regard to differences in time, place or type of computer system.

If anyone can lay claim to a 'heritage' in an industry as young as global networking, then it is Cisco. Not only does 85 percent of Internet traffic travel across Cisco's systems, we also use the Internet to run our own business online, from product orders and inventory management through to staff communications and travel expenses.

The 100-105 “Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1” (ICND1) exam is associated with the Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT) certification and is a tangible first step in achieving an Associate-level certification. Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the “Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1” (ICND1) course. This exam tests a candidate's knowledge and skills required to successfully install, operate, and troubleshoot a small branch office network. The exam includes topics on the operation of IP data networks, LAN switching technologies, IPv6, IP routing technologies, IP services (DHCP, NAT, ACLs), network device security, and basic troubleshooting. The exam is closed book and no outside reference materials are allowed.

The 200-105 “Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 2” (ICND2) is a 1-1⁄2 hour exam with 50–60 questions and is associated with the CCNA Routing and Switching certification. Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the “Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 2” (ICND2) course. This exam tests a candidate's knowledge and skills required to successfully install, operate, and troubleshoot a small to medium-size enterprise branch network. The exam includes topics on LAN switching technologies, IP routing technologies, IP services (FHRP, syslog, SNMP v2 and v3), troubleshooting, and WAN technologies.

ICND1: Operation of IP Data Networks, LAN Switching Technologies, IP Addressing (IPv4/IPv6), IP Routing Technologies, IP Services, Network Device Security, and Troubleshooting.
ICND2: LAN Switching Technologies (Advanced), IP Routing Technologies (Advanced), IP Services (Advanced), Troubleshooting (Advanced), and WAN Technologies.

This is a lecture-lab course in which the instructor presents topics. Hands-on activities are demonstrated, modeled and practiced by the student. Assigned activities can be performed during designated times by instructor and outside of class. Objective and lab activity is given daily. There are two comprehensive final exams.
